Leafs Season Week 8 in Review - Season 2, Episode 011

Welcome to Avery Central... at Lunch! We couldn't help ourselves this week and we had to talk Avery. This episode we spend a good 30 minutes on that knucklehead. Speaking of knuckleheads Chris may be the only guy that's on Sean Avery's side. Things definitely get heated this week. After that we discuss the firing of Carolina's head coach and the hiring of good ol' Maurice. We wrap things up before break discussing the All Star Ballot stuffing by the dirty Habs fans, and apparently the Pens fans as well. Chris and Wayne piss Brian off quite nicely. The show ends very poorly with a horrible round table about the Leafs games of the week. Try and ignore the sound of Brian choking two dogs in the background and enjoy! At least this time Wayne spells his word wrong and doesn't cheat!

Leafs Weeks 6 and 7 in Review - Season 2, Episode 010

We're back! Due to the absentmindedness of Dave we were unable to get into the studio to record an episode last week. Instead we spent 45 minutes freezing our butts off in the dark looking for a key. This week there was so much to discuss that we missed some good things but it was still a great show. We talk about the Ovechkin-Malkin feud, the verdict handed down to David Frost, the hiring of the mighty Brian Burke, the raising of Clark's banner to the rafters and much more. More importantly we have for the first time dirty Sens podcasters as guests. Blech! That's right the guys from Sens Underground join us to talk the sickening Sens and the reasons behind their horrible play. They also go on and on about their 'golden god' our nemesis as Leafs, the unmentionable one. In the end it was all a good laugh and Shredder provided our Wayne's Word for the evening, stumping Wayne. Leafs Season Week 5 in Review - Season 2, Episode 009

First to break the news straight from the NHL website, Barry Melrose gets canned and who didn't see that coming? Brian makes a triumphant return to discuss the Leaf games of the week. Starting with the clear decision over the Habs and following through with the first 2 thirds of the western swing, a split decision. The Leafs finally return to the west and the Leaf fans were out in droves! The guys also give their opinion on the newly available Brian Burke. James joins the call and talks about Luongo's amazing shutout streak and the difficulty the Leafs are going to run into facing the hot goaltender. Finally Wayner shows up and shocks the Leafs Central world by spelling an un-spellable(is that a word?) word. Brian is adamant he cheated, however all of this will be cleared up next Friday live on talkshoe!

Leafs Season Week 4 in Review - Season 2, Episode 008

Only 1 win to show for this week for the Leafs. The defense and PK are getting worse and the goaltending may be an issue. This week the guys discuss Martin Brodeur's injury, the weird All Star nominating, and of coarse the Leaf games. The only positives this week was the come-from-behind victory against the Rangers and the incredible play of Grabovski. After that it was 2 straight loses to the Canes, that could have easily been wins, and a convincing loss to the Bruins. Dave and Dan gang up on Chris about the problems in Dallas with Sean Avery, Chris is on the side of Avery's attention getting personality, while Dave and Dan think he's a disgrace. Wayne stays out of this argument and waits for his segment. Brian emails and incredibly hard word for Wayne's Word that non of us would get, so needless to say Wayne misses by a landslide. Leafs Season Week 3 in Review - Season 2, Episode 007

SENS SUCK!
Are the Leafs for real or what? This week it's just the 3 of us and we talk the 3 Leaf games. 2 sweet wins with rotten balony in the middle. Leafs fans were happy to see the Leafs handily beat the rival Sens. We got an eyefull of Stamkos and destroyed Brodeur's confidence....well not really. Also this week we discuss hits to the head, Boo-Alfies contract and Shanahan being back on the market. Have a listen to Adam Mairs potty mouth and his subsequent response to his fine. Also as usual Wayne gives a go at spelling Zherdev. It's a wild one when he also gives a quick try at Visnovski (did I even spell that right?) Join us next week on Talkshoe, we'd love the company!

Leafs Season Week 2 in Review - Season 2, Episode 006

This week Chris and Wayne are back and Dan-O is out...out drinking at a whiskey party! On this episode we delve into the article about a second team in Toronto, the GM's meeting and they're proposals to change the game, yet again. We also argue a bit about whether or not Sundin would ever join our arch nemesis, the Ottawa Senators. Dave and Chris seem to think it would never happen and Brian thinks we're being idiots to think that kind of loyalty means anything these days. Soon enough we may find out. More importantly we discuss this past weeks games between the Rangers, Pens, (mighty) Ducks, and Bruins. The Leafs showed a lot of intestinal fortitude by coming back in 2 of the 4 games from a deficit, where last year they would have folded the tent and lost 7-1. Wayne tries valiantly again to spell in his segment and James gets on the horn for no real apparent reason but to tell us he met Henrik Sedin and did a terrible job of interviewing him.
Next week will Wayne valiantly spell a players name right?
Will Jamie call in for no good reason again?
How will the boys fare without Brian?

Leafs Season Week 1 in Review - Season 2, Episode 005

Welcome to an episode of firsts.
This week we get our first live caller, albeit may have been a crank call, it was still a doozie! We made first contact with our west coast correspondent James, Dan appears in 2 consecutive shows and Chris missed his first show ever after 30 straight shows! In this episode the guys discuss the shocking news of Cheraponov`s premature death and the not so shocking news of Hollwegs second upcoming suspension of the season. They also talk about Peca (the according to Dave: Superstar!) and his suspension for abuse of the official. James gives us the straight poop about the Canucks and Luongo`s captaincy. To finish it off in style Wayne performs an abortion on the Wayne`s Word segment, that`s right, not just the word, but the ENTIRE segment. Leafs Game 1 Recap - Season 2, Episode 004

Welcome to the first non preview show about the Leafs. This week we discuss the Leafs very first game of the year. What a shocker it was as the Leafs did what most thought was impossible in defeating the Stanley Cup champs on their banner raising night. We also talk about the upside-down placing of the Stanley Cup by Def Leppard's retarded front man. What an asshat! Have a listen to the CBC entries for the new Hockey Night in Canada theme song competition and see what you think. There was a definite disagreement between the boys on the best one to take over as the new song. We also had a guest on our show that hasn't been on for a long time and he expresses his feelings towards finally riding the team of McCabe. Wayne doesn't say much but he's there in the end with his bold attempt to spell Kulemin. Next friday we should be live on Talkshoe so tune in and have a listen.

Leafs Season Preview - Season 2, Episode 003

Apologies ahead of time to our listeners for the bad sound quality of this show. Our recording crashed for the 3rd time in a row and this time we were unable to recover it. So we had to resort to our backup recording which is the talkshoe version. So this episode sounds like your eavesdropping on a phone conversation over skype between Brian, Chris and Dave. This week we previewed your very own Toronto Maple Leafs and the upcoming season. Come to think of it last years Leafs preview was the worst quality as well! As goes our Leafs preview, so goes the Leafs team.....poor quality. Wayne was too sick to make it so we all missed out on his feelings about the boys in blue this year. He was able to call in the show for his special segment and he gave us a confession about last weeks Wayne's Word. Let's just say the integrity of Wayne's Word was compromised and he is being dually punished. Tune in this friday for episode 4, and hopefully we won't have a crash for a 4th time in a row! HUAR!

Eastern Conference Preview - Season 2, Episode 002

Due to unforeseen occurrences we missed our scheduled talkshoe time for episode 2. So we made it up by getting together Monday morning and recording our eastern conference preview. In our first segment we discuss the Southeast division. Our second segment was the Atlantic division coverage and we had a recording crash and thought we had lost the whole segment! With some tech savvy moves we managed to recover it and our preview stands in tact, whew! Thankfully Wayne returns for his first Wayne's Word of season 2. Chris accidentally neglected to insert the Wayne's Word music for yet another problem with episode 2. All in all we finished the show with a bang and Wayne came oh so close to spelling Grabovski's name correctly.

Western Conference Preview - Season 2, Episode 001

Well, Well, Well,

Season 2 is starting and what better way to start it then with an episode that is not about the Leafs at all. This week we discuss in detail the Western Conference team by team. This show was not live since we recorded on location at Rock Point Provincial Park, where there is definitely no internet access. Because of Wayne's inability to sleep anywhere but his own bed, he neglected to grace us with his presence and fantastic spelling ability. Basically what were saying is this episode is sans Wayne's Word. Check us out on facebook and you'll be able to get a look at some great photos of the yearly camping trip and some unfortunate photos that need explaining but are without explanation. Leafs Central Midsummer News- Season 1 Episode 26

The gang at Leafs Central are heading in new directions...all Wayne, all the time! Wait, we've got a better idea than that, from now on you can listen to us live via http://www.talkshoe.com/. It took 2 hours of troubleshooting to find out Dave did 2 very simple things wrong. Both had to do with wrong plugs. Add an extra 45 minutes to figure out how to use talkshoe and you've got some pissed off guys who are in a hurry to finish the show before it even started. Anyways, this week we talk about, yep, you guessed it, Mats and McCabe. We also talk about Gilmour and Clark, Bowman going to Chicago and Chris becomes cynical about the Coca Cola Zero Fans free game. Oh, and Dave prattles on about his buddy 'minnie' Haydar, yawn. All in all it was over before we knew it and next episode we will be looking forward to being quick to start and technologically savey to boot! NHL Draft and Free Agency Special- Season 1 Episode 25

The guys at Leafs Central got bored this summer and decided to get back together for another episode. There was so much to talk about and after listening back to the show we realize that we didn't even come close to covering everything we wanted to. We blame that on the impatient wives for rushing us near the end. Oh well, maybe we'll do another show this season. Some of the things we talked about are; the Red Wings Stanley cup win, the draft choice Luke Schenn, the signing of Finger and Hagman, Huet and Theodore, Kevin Lowe finally retaliating, and much more. Wayne was there and had to spell the name of a new Leaf, find out who and if he nailed it! Leafs Post Season Wrap Up- Season 1 Episode 24

Well this is the final episode of the first season of Leafs Central... at Lunch! Oh boy is it a doozy!In this episode the boys celebrate the triumphant return of Brian and the family is complete once again. We discuss the Leafs disappointing season and make some tough managerial decisions for the Leafs....if only we had the power! We also talk about the exciting 2008 playoffs and make our pics for the winners of each series. Things get a little out of hand and much too silly when Wayne suggests bringing back Toe Blake from the dead to coach the Leafs next year. Voila! Toe Blakenstein is created! Wayne is back with a vengeance and ready to finish off the season on a winning note but alas Brian throws him a knuckle puck and gives him a full name to spell. Have a listen and see if Wayne wins the final game of Wayne's Word of the year as he valiently attempts to spell Lester B. Pearson. Leafs Season Weeks 22 and 23 in Review- Season 1 Episode 23

This week on the show the guys shoot the breeze about the Leafs failing to win the back to back games with Boston and become eliminated from the playoff race. Now we've set our sights on a new goal with a small mathematical possibilty. Our ultimate nemesis is on the verge of missing the playoffs if all the right pieces fall into place. The Toronto - Ottawa game this Thursday night is all important now as the buds have a chance to cripple the Sens. If Washington continues to win the final 2 games of the year and the Sens lose the 2 games left, THE SENS WILL BE ELIMINATED FROM THE PLAYOFFS!! HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!! From FIRST to OUT will be a dream come true for most Leaf fans. Speaking of nemesis', find out which Coach is the Darth Vader of the NHL. The guys also discuss all of the fascinating playoff races. Wayne also makes a valient attempt to spell Iglina...miglina.....Igilina. Well it's a valient attempt to spell AND pronounce Iginla. Leafs Season Week 21 in Review- Season 1 Episode 22

For those of you in Leafs Nation it was quite an exciting week, for those of you in Tank Nation it was a real bummer. The Leafs take 4 out of 4 points in the Philly series and climb within 5 points of eighth spot this week. The boys discuss who is apart of which Nation and there is a divide amoung opinions, nation vs. nation! To our dismay we stupidly neglect to discuss the injury to our Captain Mats Sundin, we blame it on Dave and his crappy mic this week for that mistake. The boys also talk about another in the world of jinks, Chris "gap-toothed" Pronger, James is light on the number of games he should be suspended, while Wayne wants to see it stretch into the first round of the playoffs. Speaking of Wayne, he makes a valiant attempt to spell Forsberg and comes closer to getting it right than Jamie. Wayne was a mere one letter off while Jamie was adding extra letters....what a dumb jink! Chris also discusses whether tanking is really a wise solution or not and the gents weigh in. Leafs Season Week 20? in Review- Season 1 Episode 21

Well, well, well,
What a conundrum us Leaf fans have before us. It looks like it could be another 9th place finish for the boys in blue. Can you say deja vu? We've seen this 2 years in a row already and we don't want to see it a third. This week on the show the guys discuss whether or not a player can win the Hart Trophy without their team making the playoffs. You guessed it, we talk about Ovechkin, or according to Wayne, Ovenchin......so close, yet so far. Dave accidentaly comes up with a new hybrid word of his own, jerk mixed with dink, or Jink! He was on quite a roll because due to Chad Kilger`s personal problems Dave also had an idea for a hockey player gossip magazine called What the Puck! or Puck Weekly. Wayne spreads wild vicious rumours about Chad but what else is new. Apparently Rick Tocchet is making his rounds with the ladies again. Have a listen and marvel and the foolishness of it all!

To our shock and delightment Freddie P. actually shows up and is a man of his word! All week we kept asking ourselves, 'Is he REALLY gonna come and do our show? Maybe it's just some other guy named Fred Patterson.' But thankfully he braved the horrible weather and hiked out to Hornby. This week with Fred we discuss his past in radio and find out which sport has the biggest asswipes, which one do you think it is? Fred also enlights us to the size of Borje Salmings wang and why he was called The King. Fred gives his opinion on the Leafs and Mats Sundin's deciding not to waive his no trade clause. Is his decision because he has no passion to win the Cup? Can the Leafs possibly make the playoffs? Why are they even trying to? Most of Leafs Nation want them to tank and get Stamkos...which brings us to Waynes Word. Listen to find out if Wayne spells Stamkos correct. Do the Leafs sign Sundin next year? Welcome to our Trade Deadline Special!

Despite the title, this episode is far from bonanza spectacular, I just wanted to use the word bonanza in our title! This week we discuss some possible moves coming this tuesday and look forward to that time when we can put the Mats fiasco behind us. Will he be a Leaf before our 20th episode? He's going to come under a lot of criticism no matter what he does, however our good friend Wayne never comes under criticism, except when he tries to spell Datsyuk..... and his mic quality sucks this week too.... and he kind of rambles a bit as well..... and well, it's Wayne! Next week look forward to the triumphant return of Brian as well as the more important, special, secret guest. The Leafs need to keep losing if they hope to get Stamkos, so STOP WINNING EVERY 2 OUT OF 3 GAMES!

Leafs Season Week 17 in Review- Season 1 Episode 18

Wayne finally returns from the dead to the dismay of the Dave, but to the pleasure of all, because Wayne's Word is back! He's pissed and he has a lot to say......even if all of it doesn't make sense. See how Wayne fares at spelling Stralman. The guys at Leafs Central finally give up and decide that it's time for us to cheer the losing cause of the Leafs. We want the first pick overall! Leafs Season Week 16 in Review- Season 1 Episode 17

Wins against Sens and Habs!..........
However,

You'd think that in a week where the boys in blue beat 2 of our most hated rivalries we as Leafs Nation would be pretty stoked. But something happened in between all of that.....what was it? Oh, yeah, in the middle of that we had the crushing, humiliating, shameful defeat at the hands of the Panthers. Dave and Pundy give us some insight into how bad that night was for them since they were there live and in person. Brian fails to show up again but this time with an actual valid reason. Find out what that reason is and have a listen to the boys argue over what position the Leafs should use their first round pick on. Keep on losing Leafs! We want to start anew!

The All Star Extravaganza!!!

Well....not really. This week the boys, and by boys I mean men, and by men I mean just Chris and Dave, since no one else bothered to show up, discuss the 2 Leaf losses at the hands of the referees. Yep that's right, 2 games, 6 video replays, 1 in the favour of the Leafs. We also talk about the All Star game skills competition, but not the All Star game since neither of us really watched it. Does Ray Emery really have a bad attitude or could it be something more than that? We talk about whether the media should be picking on Emery as much as they have. I know what you're thinking, "How could the Leafs Central guys be taking the side of our arch nemesis' goalie?"......All we have to say to that is, give a brother a break, yo! Leafs Season Week 14 in Review- Season 1 Episode 15

Win, Loss, Win , Loss

If that pattern continues the sad but new managed Leafs will definitely NOT make the playoffs for the 3rd year in a row! They need to be a little more like this; Win, Win, Win, Win, Loss, Win Win, Win, Loss, etc....This week the gents are graced by the return presence of Dave and we get more emails from his adoring fans (family and close friends). He has a lot to say, but it's mostly criticism of our last show sans him, sigh. Huge news in Leaf Land with the slow painful assassination of J.F.J and his replacement by The Silver Fox. No, not some super hero G.M but rather a 73 year old man, Cliff Fletcher. Is he going to REALLY be in charge or does he have Richard Peddie's hand up his ass, and no, that is not a gay reference but rather a puppet-ventrilaquist one. Next week we hope to have Fred Patterson joining us in studio so keep listening and thanks for your support.

Leafs Season Week 13 in Review- Season 1 Episode 14

Are things about to change?

One way or another things are changing soon. Whether it's the Leafs play on the ice or things in head office, somethings definitely on the move. This week we have the return of Jamie and Wayner and therefore, the return on Wayne's Word, excellent! For the first time ever Dave is not apart of the show and it ends up being a record for the longest episode ever. We discuss the Leafs lose to the Sharks, followed by 2, yes 2 straight victories. Could this be the beginning of something good or another anomily like the last 4 game win streak. Wayne says the most he's ever said in an episode and after listening you'll realize why we try to keep his comments to a minimum (McCabe, Tucker and Sundin- Wayne's first line All-Stars, yes Wayne thinks McCabe is a forward, which ironically isn't as far fetched as his Tucker pick). Leafs Season Week 12 in Review- Season 1 Episode 13

This week the 3 amigos at Leafs Central talk about, you guessed it, 3 straight loses by the Leafs at the hands of Philly, Ducks, and Kings. It's time to talk blowing things up and we talk about it...with no real original ideas. We love you Sundin but it's soon time to move you for some picks and prospects. This episode is without Wayner again and therefore no Wayne's Word. Brian drops in for a quick quip and visit but for extended periods of time forgets to turn his mic on. What a doofus! They boys also lament at the HUGE signing of Ovechkin, since it means that there is NO chance that the Leafs can land him. Well, they can always wait till he's 35 and sign him on the downside of his career, that's what the Leafs usually do! Next week we'll see the return of Wayne and his craaaazy antics.

Leafs Season Weeks 10 and 11 in Review- Season 1 Episode 12-B

Leafs continue their suckage.....

Have a listen to Episode 12-B and hear how our second take of 12 goes. (Chris stupidly erased episode 12, dumbass!) This week we discuss the Leafs continued losing at the hands of many crappy teams. Jamie almost gets his wish and sees Raycroft 10 in a row, however Clemmenson comes in to break that up.(thank God!) We also talk about the Winter Classic, Avery the douchebag and Chris' love of that word. Does fighting actually help a team win? See what we all think about that, and if the NHL needs more villians like Mike Vick. Sorry but no Wayne's word this week, because he was making love all night long. (shudder) Pundy fills in once again.
